Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be recommended as cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but should you opt for bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
