Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is recommended since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes with a paint primer, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
