Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be preferred since the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels act as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
