Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be recommended as cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks will serve as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
