Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be recommended since the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you start. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, you can seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
