Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the total length of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be preferred as cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
