Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be preferred since the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes featuring a paint primer, but if you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood then let it dry for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely even. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
