Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the total length of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be preferred since the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a paint primer, but should you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
