Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be preferred since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes with a paint primer, but should you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
