Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be preferred as the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but should you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
