Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred as the cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you opt for bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
