Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be preferred since cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
