Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be preferred since the cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might periodically arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
