Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be preferred since the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes featuring a paint primer, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
