Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be recommended as cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes with a paint primer, but if you opt for bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
