Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is recommended since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
