Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be preferred as the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes with a paint primer, but should you opt for bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding on the wall, invert it ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Begin at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
