Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be recommended since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
