Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is preferred as the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Begin at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
