Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be recommended as cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels act as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you start. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might periodically arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
