Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred as cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes featuring a paint primer, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
