Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is recommended as cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but should you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
