Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw is preferred as the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
