Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the total length of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw is recommended since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but if you opt for bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then let it dry for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
