Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is preferred since cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
