Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels act as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you start. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might periodically arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
