Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of the straight walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes with a paint primer, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you start. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
