Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
