Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred as the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
