Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred as the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks will serve as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To address these spaces, you can seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
