Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be recommended as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes with a paint primer, but if you opt for bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
