Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be preferred since the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
