Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the total length of the straight walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be recommended as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
