Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw is recommended as the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
