Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw is preferred since the cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
