Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in the area. For instance, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is recommended since the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
