Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of the straight walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be preferred as the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
