Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw is recommended as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
