Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is recommended as cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
