Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is recommended since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
