Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred as the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes featuring a paint primer, but should you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
