Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw is preferred since cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped with a paint primer, but should you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks will serve as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
