Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw is preferred as the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes with a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you start. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
