Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the total length of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw is recommended since the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes with a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Begin at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically appear between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
