Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw can be preferred since cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels act as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
