Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw can be preferred as the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
