Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the total length of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes with a primer coat of paint, but should you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood then let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
