Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is recommended since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes with a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels act as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
