Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter saw can be employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be recommended since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels act as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
