Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be recommended since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, you can fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
